Throughout 2025, the Waqf, Zakat and Endowment Management Centre (WAZAN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully fulfilled its trust in managing and distributing zakat funds efficiently, transparently, and effectively. WAZAN recorded a total overall zakat collection of RM8.967 million. This collection encompasses collections through the Zakat Salary Deduction Scheme (SPG) amounting to RM5.80 million and collections through the WAZAN zakat counter amounting to RM3.16 million. This amount is an increase compared to the collection in 2024, which recorded an overall total of RM8.665 million, comprising SPG collections of RM5.367 million and counter collections of RM3.297 million.

The zakat collection for December 2025 recorded the highest amount, totaling RM2.05 million. This increase was driven by zakat payments made at the end of the year, which is typically the time when Muslims review their obligations regarding the fourth pillar of Islam by fulfilling their zakat duties, such as income and wealth zakat. This data clearly demonstrates a high level of awareness among the UPM community and the general public regarding the obligation of paying zakat, as well as their confidence in the management system implemented by WAZAN.
