KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 – Center for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), UPM, has also shared expertise with academicians, administrators and thinkers at the MPM office, Jalan Ledang, Kuala Lumpur.
According to Dr. Haji Razali Othman, WAZAN's Director, the discussion focused on the role of wakaf institutions in developing a more sustainable and viable nation economy.
The country's economic situation, which is still uncertain, especially after the GE13, requires everybody to work together to find ways to rebuild a more prosperous and harmonious country.
Lands that symbolize the "independence" and "well-being" of a nation need to be viewed in a more holistic context. Similarly, waqf which is also often associated with "land" should be used as a sustainable funding mechanism from one generation to another.
At the end of the discussion, WAZAN's views and participants involving waqf and land applications have been accepted, and will be promoted to the top leadership of the state for further refinement. – WAZAN Online
