SERDANG, March 4 - Muslim Mother Teresa from Montreal, Kanada named as Sister Sabriah which originates from Malaysia accompanied 50 asnaf students under supervision of the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in the preparation of special foods at Majlis Tautan Hati with Sister Sabriah.
The event was held at the Food Complex (Food 6), Faculty of Science and Food Technology, UPM and it involves 30 volunteers from Sahabat Masjid UPM's members who also manage the preparation of foods.
The 70-year-old icon is known internationally for her charity feeds the homeless for 30 years in Montreal, Canada.
Her foundation, Sabria's Foundation shared her experience with UPM's charity organization, Sahabat Masjid UPM on the ways of organizing social responsibility programs.
The first time event organized by Sahabat Masjid UPM is aimed to strengthen relationships between Sabria Foundation and the university management as well as giving the chance for students to get to know Sister Sabriah more closely and also establishing a bilateral network with a well-known Malaysian-owned volunteer foundation abroad with UPM.
