HSAAS, 29th July - The responsibility held by the Waqf, Zakat and Endowment Management Center (WAZAN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is something very heavy to bear. It is a trust held by the zakat payers at UPM to ensure that the poor are always helped.
The various donations and assistance that have been given to UPM students and staff among the asnaf by WAZAN especially when they need to receive treatment at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, UPM.
According to the Director of WAZAN, Tuan Haji Haris Dahlan, "there are more than 10 students and staff admitted to the UPM hospital who have been helped by WAZAN where they face various types of problems such as accidents, health problems and injuries", he said when asked about the role of WAZAN UPM in helping the asnaf group of UPM.
Most recently, several UPM staff and students have received treatment at HSAAS and it is the duty of WAZAN UPM to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted by zakat payers. The types of assistance provided are emergency assistance (immediate), medical assistance, medical equipment assistance and various types of hospital assistance.
"I hope that UPM students and staff who receive treatment at UPM's HSAAS to inform my officers to ensure that they are visited and given assistance because the zakat funds received should be spent to help the needy", he said again.
