Serdang - The 19th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Zakat Trust Fund Committee Meeting (No. 1/2026) was recently held at the Board Room, Canselori Putra Building, UPM. This meeting was chaired by YBhg. Dato' Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan bin Mohd Sadullah, the Vice-Chancellor.

This meeting, which convenes twice a year, is seen as an important platform for strengthening the governance, management, and distribution of zakat funds in a more strategic, transparent, and impactful manner for the UPM community, particularly the asnaf who are in need of assistance.

The Waqf, Zakat and Endowment Management Centre (WAZAN), acting as the secretariat for the UPM JKTAZ Meeting, presented a report on the zakat collection amounting to RM8.9 million and the distribution amounting to RM3.7 million for the year 2025.

Various forms of distribution carried out through the approval of the UPM Zakat Distribution Committee Meeting—such as financial aid for living expenses, tuition fees, industrial training, programs (dakwah, academic, volunteerism), emergencies/disasters/immediate needs, medical assistance, learning tools, and various other aids managed by WAZAN—were also reported in this UPM JKTAZ meeting. This effort reflects UPM's continuous commitment to ensuring that every zakat trust is utilized optimally for the welfare, well-being, and livelihood of the asnaf and the university community in need.

May every plan and decision implemented serve as a source of blessings, social justice, and lasting benefit for the ummah.
