ZAKAT: A CATALYST FOR STUDENT WELFARE AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Zakat funds managed by institutions like the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN) UPM act as a social safety net to ensure their well-being. This is realized through several forms of assistance:

 Direct Financial Aid: Channeling living allowances, outstanding tuition fee assistance, and emergency relief funds for unforeseen hardships.

 Basic Needs Support: Providing daily food packs (such as Free Meals initiatives), clothing assistance, and residential facilities.

 Digital Empowerment: Distributing laptops and internet data assistance so students are well-equipped for the modern digital learning ecosystem.

Developing Future Human Capital

Beyond fulfilling basic physical needs, zakat also serves as a strategic investment in holistic educational development. Zakat funds are utilized to finance skill enhancement programs, leadership training, and entrepreneurship mentoring exclusively for asnaf students.
