INFAQ: A GENEROUS PRACTICE THAT NOURISHES THE SOUL AND WEALTH

Generosity is among the most noble virtues encouraged in Islam, with infaq serving as its primary expression. Many often assume that giving away or donating wealth diminishes personal riches. However, through the lens of Islamic teachings, the sincere act of infaq serves as a spiritual nutrient that nourishes the peace of the soul and multiplies the blessings of one's wealth.

Nourishing the Soul Through Generosity

Spiritually, the consistent practice of infaq trains the human heart to detach from excessive materialism. When an individual willingly relinquishes a portion of their wealth for the benefit of others, their soul is cleansed of greed, envy, and stinginess. The empathy cultivated when assisting those in need brings genuine happiness and peace of mind that money simply cannot purchase.

The Growth and Blessing of Wealth

Material logic suggests that spent wealth decreases. Yet, Allah's promise assures us that wealth spent in His cause flourishes with multiplied goodness. Allah SWT states in Surah Saba' (verse 39) that whatever is spent in His way, He will surely replace it. This replacement manifests in various forms:

  • Unlocking new and unexpected doors of sustenance.

  • Protection against unforeseen calamities, accidents, and severe illnesses.

  • Blessings in family life, good health, and a meaningful lifespan.

Nourishing the Welfare Ecosystem

At the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Infaq (WAZAN) UPM, infaq funds contributed by the campus community and the public are targeted directly toward various welfare initiatives. It finances student welfare programs, free meal distributions, and human capital development projects.

In conclusion, practicing infaq never impoverishes anyone. It is a wise investment that nourishes the spirit in this world and harvests abundant spiritual rewards in the hereafter.
