UPM ASNAF STUDENTS AND MUALLAF RECEIVE WAZAN SPONSORSHIP TO ”HALAL FOOD AND MOSQUE ACTIVITIES” 2023

UPM Serdang, 14 Oct - Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the UPM Zakat Trust Fund, provides contributions in the form of sponsorship for activities and donations to UPM's ASNAF (students eligible for zakat) and Muallaf (converts to Islam) students.
This donation was given during the program of “Halal Food and Mosque Activities” 2023 that had been held at Dewan Al-Khawarizmi, Pusat Islam Universiti (PIU) UPM on 14 October 2023.
This program is organized by the School of Business and Economics (SPE), in collaboration with the SPE Student Association (SBESA), the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association, the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat & Endowment (WAZAN) at UPM, and the University Islamic Center (PIUPM). It is an effort to provide opportunities for non-Muslim students, including converts (Muallaf), and Muslim students to gain an understanding of Islam through mosque visits, the concept of halal food, and the concept of hijab.
Besides, this activity was aimed to give exposure to the participants about the concept of halal food and to have experienced food from various cultures and ethnicities in Malaysia, while engaging in leisure activities to strengthen the camaraderie among participants.
A total of 34 participants, including international students, asnaf students, and converts to Islam, were involved in this program.
