UPM SERDANG, 13 OCT- A total of 10 new students for the 2023/2024 session have received donation from the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat & Endowment (WAZAN) Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in conjunction with the ‘Jalinan Mahabbah’ program.
The provision of this donation is in conjunction with the ‘Jalinan Mahabbah’ program of WAZAN UPM, aiming to consistently strive to safeguard the well-being of UPM students, particularly by helping ease the financial burden on students and parents.
WAZAN UPM has provided financial donation services to new students, as well as an online platform for applying for student zakat aid for Muslim students.
Director of WAZAN UPM, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Daud Awang, stated that the provision of financial aid aims to ease the burdens of new students who are eligible for zakat, particularly those from the needy, poor, and converts (muallaf) for the session 2023/2024.
“This program is carried out to assist first-year students who have just registered for the UPM 2023/2024 session, who come from various backgrounds.
Therefore, WAZAN UPM has taken the initiative to extend assistance to students who genuinely need it," he said.
Meanwhile, first-year student from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, UPM, Nur Alya Huraiyah, mentioned that the donation provided by WAZAN helps alleviate her financial burden of sustaining life here.
“I am very grateful and would like to express my thanks for the donation that has been given to me and my friends in need."
"My hope is that a donation like this can help to improve the family's economy at UPM," she said.
