Pulau Pinang, September 29 – Director of WAZAN, YBhg. Dr. Haji Razali bin Othman was invited to present a sharing session on 'Waqf education: Expectations and Future' at the Waqf Symposium of Penang State.
Prior to that, Dr, Hi Razali was introduced to the leader of the Penang State, including YB Deputy Chief Minister 1, YB Dato 'Dr. Ir Haji Ahmad Zakiyuddin as well as Members of the Majlis Agama Islam Pulau Pinang who are responsible for lifting the waqf of Penang to the mainstream.
In this sharing session, Dr. Razali tolds that the Waqf Educational in Malaysia begins in cottages, madrasahs and tahfiz schools.
However, to this day, there is no empirical and comprehensive study of the issue of education waqf. People only know and hear names like Madrasah al-Attas, Madrasah al-Masriyah, Madrasah al-Mansor and so on from the previous ones.
"However, 2015 is the climax toward development of waqf education where the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) makes wakaf as a vehicle for generating 20 Public Universities (UA)", he said.
According to him, "Terms of 'Wakaf@UA' become quite synonymous with KPT business. At least seven efforts were made by the KPT towards empowerment of waqf. Started with the establishment of the purple book team, followed by Round Table Discussion, Discussion with waqf experts, Overseas Benchmarks, Gallery Walk, MAIN and UA Advocacy, and ended with the Jerayawara Pasukan Buku Ungu program.
Whatever, "I am grateful that the development of the Waqf Education in Malaysia also involves WAZAN's contribution and contributions. Among them, WAZAN was involved as a member of the Purple Book team, author of 'Enhancing University Income Generation, Endowment and Waqf', consultant, Round Table Discussion moderator, Gallery Walk instructor and being entrusted to become Team Leader of Jerayawara Pasukan Buku Ungu. Hopefully this small business of WAZAN will also support the efforts of others in restoring wakaf as a source of generating generosity! In Shaa Allah. – WAZAN Online
