WAZAN UPM CONTRIBUTES TO COMMUNITY FACILITY UPGRADE: SURAU AL YAKEEN SERI KEMBANGAN CARPET

SERI KEMBANGAN - The Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its social role within the local community by channeling a contribution worth RM30,000 for the project to upgrade the main prayer hall carpet of Surau Al Yakeen, Seri Kembangan.

This initiative is designed to provide a more conducive and comfortable worship facility for the local congregation. It is also part of WAZAN UPM's continuous commitment to ensuring that the entrusted zakat and waqf funds are returned to the communities surrounding the university that require support.

Congregants' Comfort a Shared Priority

Given that Surau Al Yakeen is always a main focal point for the residents around Seri Kembangan to perform congregational obligatory prayers, attend religious lectures, and conduct community activities, the replacement with a new carpet is seen as highly timely considering the existing carpet has begun to wear out.

The Director of WAZAN UPM, [Name of WAZAN Director], in his statement said that the contribution is hoped to provide a lasting positive impact and further ignite the local community's efforts to enliven the surau (prayer hall).

"We at WAZAN UPM always prioritize the well-being of the community, especially our neighbors around the campus. Through transparent fund management and distribution, we hope the installation of this new high-quality carpet will provide maximum comfort to the congregants, especially the elderly, during worship," he explained.

Synergy Between the University and the Local Community

This community-scale contribution is described as a manifestation of the higher education institution's concern in addressing the needs of the society beyond the campus gates.

In a brief handover ceremony held at the surau, the Chairman of Surau Al Yakeen, [Name of Surau Chairman], representing the committee members and the surau's congregation, expressed his highest appreciation to UPM and the fund contributors.

"Alhamdulillah, this contribution of RM30,000 means a great deal to our congregation. The prayer space now looks much more vibrant, clean, and comfortable. On behalf of the entire congregation, we pray that all zakat payers, waqf contributors, and the management of WAZAN UPM are blessed with multiplied rewards," he said.

WAZAN UPM always welcomes the general public, campus community, and corporate companies to continue paying zakat and contributing to waqf through WAZAN UPM. This continuous support is vital to ensure the sustainability of socioeconomic infrastructure improvement projects and that community welfare can be further expanded in the future.
