SHAH ALAM, May 23 - The Lembaga Zakat Selangor  (LZS) has recognized Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as the winner of the ‘Anugerah Prestasi Kutipan Tertinggi’ Zakat for three consecutive years in the Penolong Amil Higher Education Institute’s (IPT)  category.

UPM, represented by the Centre of Management for Waqf, Zakat, and Endowment (WAZAN), appointed as the Penolong Amil IPT Selangor , achieved the highest zakat collection through their zakat collection counters in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The award was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of LZS, Mr. Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, at the Selangor Zakat Strategic Partner Excellence Ceremony (GRASIAZ) held at Wisma PKPS here on May 14.

According to the Director of WAZAN UPM, Tuan Haji Haris Dahlan, "this award is a remarkable achievement for UPM in the aspect of zakat funding entrusted to us by LZS. This success aligns with LZS's aim to ensure that Penolong Amil IPT  in Selangor enhance their zakat collections," he said when asked to comment on UPM's achievement in receiving this award.

"I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to LZS for the recognition given to us as Penolong Amil . I also want to thank all the zakat payers at UPM who continually support us by making our counters their destination for paying zakat. The unwavering support from WAZAN UPM's customers has motivated us to continue assisting asnaf among students in particular, using these zakat funds," he added.

UPM is an accredited Penolong Amil IPT Selangor  for LZS, authorized to manage, collect, and distribute zakat funds contributed by UPM staff, alumni, and the surrounding community since 2002, managed by WAZAN.
