With great pleasure, the Centre Management of Waqf, Zakat, and Endowment (WAZAN) of Universiti Putra Malaysia is proud to announce the appointment of the WAZAN Director as the Chairman of the Council for Waqf, Endowment, and Zakat (MAWEZ) at Public Universities, effective from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027.

The main objectives of the establishment of MAWEZ are to standardize the governance of waqf, endowment, and zakat at Public Universities through the establishment of a Responsibility Center (PTJ) at each university; to explore and lead sustainable funding strategies in the empowerment of waqf, endowment, and zakat at Public Universities; to lead discussions with stakeholders to represent the voice of Public Universities; and to centrally coordinate the database for the collection and distribution of waqf, endowment, and zakat funds at Public Universities.

The following is the organizational structure of MAWEZ at Public Universities, comprising a team selected from various Public Universities and chaired by the Director of WAZAN UPM, YBrs. Tuan Haji Haris Dahlan. The Deputy Chairpersons are YBhg. Prof. Dr. Sayuti Ab Ghani (UPNM) and YBrs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ashrof Zaki Yaakob. The Secretary-General is YBrs. En Azrol Hafizi Azman (UPM), assisted by the Assistant Secretary YBrs. Dr. Wan Haslan Khairuddin, along with the executive committee members who have been appointed to lead MAWEZ during the meeting at the Department of Higher Education on May 13, 2024.

WAZAN UPM also extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the selected members of MAWEZ at Public Universities as they commence their duties.
