START WITH SEPULUH (SWS+) PROGRAM BRIEFING 2025: WAZAN UPM AND LZS PARTNER TO ENHANCE IPT ZAKAT SERVICES

SERDANG, May 26, 2025 – The Zakat Consultancy Department (JPZ) of Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS), in strategic collaboration with the Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Infaq (WAZAN) UPM, successfully hosted the Start With Sepuluh (SWS+) 2025 Briefing Session at Dewan Al-Ghazali, UPM Islamic Centre.

Strategic Roadmap for Campus Zakat Empowerment Bringing together JPZ officials and Assistant Amil representatives from Selangor Higher Education Institutions (IPTs), the session aimed to align strategic execution plans for the SWS+ program across universities. Key focus areas discussed included:

Execution of SWS+ in Higher Education: Cultivating a consistent zakat culture through salary deduction schemes and recurring contributions starting as low as RM10 among university employees.

IPT Zakat Customer Service Course: Designing specialized training modules to elevate communication skills, operational efficiency, and professionalism among campus amils interacting with zakat contributors and applicants.

Optimized Asnaf Distribution: Streamlining screening mechanisms and aid delivery to ensure faster, transparent, and more impactful support for campus beneficiaries (asnaf).

Elevating Service Standards for Asnaf Welfare This briefing session underscores the steadfast commitment of WAZAN UPM and LZS in expanding the operational capabilities of university-based zakat representatives. This strategic synergy is expected to anchor a sustainable zakat culture while raising service excellence to safeguard student and staff welfare.
