The Malaysian Institute of Aging Research (MyAgeing ™) is a national research institution that plays a leading role in aging research in Malaysia and develops social innovation model as an input to the government to manage the aging of the population so that Malaysian citizens live an active and productive life.

UPM is honored by Mrs. Hjh Hasnah's pure desire give  (waqf) her home in Golf Height, Seremban as a senior care center. MyAgeing™ has been responsible for developing this senior care center/research.

Teratak Pak Atan's nursing/research center will operate on a daily basis where no night stay is available. With reasonable rates, senior citizens can attend daily and various appropriate activities will be provided. The activities carried out, not only to fill time but are designed so that it can stimulate cognitive and psychomotor of senior citizens. This reduces the risk of mental health and illness which is a common problem in the elderly.

This development process will involve renovation process of Teratak Pak Atan into a senior-friendly environment. Senior-friendly means all construction is in accordance with senior citizens and reduces the risk of accidents. Among them are the selection of floor types, options and layout of furniture, as well as color selection.

Others than being a care center, aging research activities will also be conducted which will be open to all interested parties. MyAgeing has done a lot of qualitative studies in the field of aging. The results of this study will be translated into real applications through translational research activities at this care center.

This project is a collaboration between several entities in UPM namely MyAgeing™, WAZAN Center and Faculty of Design and Architecture. Hopefully through the development of this senior care/research center, our senior citizens can run their daily lives more actively and productively.
