The innovation of zakat collection and distribution management in Selangor has successfully benefited many Muslims, especially the asnaf group in the state, in addition to being an example to several foreign countries.

According to the text of the Friday sermon issued by the Sermon Unit of the Mosque Management Division of the Selangor Department of Islamic Religion today, the ability to manage zakat in this state has given excitement and an example to many countries such as Indonesia and Thailand.

The sermon titled "Zakat Payung Negara" stated among other things that with the ability to distribute zakat amounting to RM1.05 billion and zakat collection of RM1.07 billion last year, it clearly shows that the management of the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) is truly trusted by many.

According to him, 6,000 asnaf people managed to get out of poverty and become entrepreneurs from the zakat money, in addition to aid also being channeled for education from pre-school to university and able to produce professionals in various fields from among the children of asnaf.

He added that in Selangor there are many icons of asnaf zakat who forged a name as exemplary human beings including Associate Prof. Datuk Dr Farid Ravi Abdullah, who is currently the Vice Chancellor of Selangor Islamic University.
