My Gift @UPM Library

The Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS) is a library at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) which provides a variety of facilities and services to meet customer needs in UPM's learning, teaching, research and consultancy activities.

PSAS is one of the earliest university libraries in Malaysia, this year, the first block of PSAS building, Block A has reached the age of 48 (1969-2017) and the second block, Block B, is 35 years old (1982-2017). During this period, there was a lack of space and infrastructure upgrades that could be implemented in PSAS due to financial constraints. The internal atmosphere of PSAS looks quite conventional as well as there are already old and outdated physical facilities.

Therefore, the PSAS plans to upgrade the library's space and infrastructure in order to provide a more conducive, comfortable and secure space for library users. Additionally, it aims to meet the needs of a new generation of UPM students who prefer a relaxed, modern, open and collaborative learning environment in line with TN50 and Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). In the global world today, education is important and is the root of a nation's civilization. Education has now become a basic necessity that everyone has to face in facing the challenges of life. To get educated, there are many ways we can achieve it. Among them is through the library because in the library there are various sources of information and other benefits that we can get.

The upgrading of PSAS space and infrastructure will cover the existing renovations of existing reading space to a more conducive and collaborative environment, the change of furniture and information technology equipment suitable with the current technological developments and the upgrading of internal and external library infrastructure to the better for the comfort and convenience of library users. An estimated cost of RM2,000,000.00 is required for this upgrade work.

As the project involves a high cost and PSAS does not have any specific provisions, the University Management Committee has granted permission to PSAS to make provision through contributions from within and beyond UPM in collaboration with the Center for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN) UPM.

Now, you all have the opportunity to channel donations through Anjung Ilmu @ LibraryUPM to help PSAS realize the hope of UPM students and your contribution is very meaningful towards the future development of education.
